Down payments ranged from $112.50 (for land only) to $600 (for multiple lots), according to real-estate transaction reports, but the typical deposit as advertised was $250 with monthly payments of $30 to $35 for a completed spec house on a lot. The company sold new houses from 1912 through the mid-1920s. Most, at least originally, were homesteads, although some were bought in groups as rental properties. Because Alamo Home Builders offered its own financing, it got some of the houses back through foreclosure and promptly resold them.
